Pequannock Water Fails Test, Still Safe to Drink

Unsaturated...Image via WikipediaPequannock's water is supplied by the Buried Water Aquifer, accessed via 3 wells in the northern end of town.  Annually, 650,000 gallons of water makes its way from the wells through 320,000 feet of pipe, to the township's roughly 14,000 residents.

In November 2011, the Pequannock water supply tested positive in one instance for coliform.  The results were not able to reproduced (no further tests showed any contaminants).  Residents received a mailing December 1st reporting the event and noting that water does not need to be boiled.
